For as long as I can remember I have had two dreams in life, one to get married and become a mother, the other to become a midwife. My first dream came true at 17 when I met my husband Steve, and over the years becoming mother to four wonderful children and more recently becoming a grandmother too. While my children were young I knew that I wanted to be at home with them so I became a childminder, looking after many children over eighteen years.
During this time I also became an Indian head masseur, Reflexologist, and Aromatherapist, specializing in pregnancy and childbirth.
Once my youngest started school I decided that the time was right for me to follow my other dream of becoming a Midwife. I started my path by becoming a Health Care Assistant on the delivery suite of my local hospital. My duties included running in theatre and assisting midwives with deliveries. I was also part of the team that implemented Aromatherapy onto the delivery suite and helped to teach midwives the art of massage and oils during labour and had the honour of massaging labouring women and helping them through their labour.
After two years I began my Midwifery course at Kings College London. During This time I learnt that my passion is in normality, using water, Aromatherapy and Reflexology to help support women through this special time in their lives. I believe that continuity of carer is of upmost importance for the whole family during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. As a Midwife I feel that to be a true advocate it is vital that she know exactly what the needs and wishes of her client and family are, and this only comes with time. As an Independent Midwife I have this time to offer. Time to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed, and ultimately giving time for trust to grow.
